Water Treatment Products
Experts in Water Treatment Technologies
FPC was the first in New Zealand to incorporate the design and manufacture of pressure sand filters, pressure DE filters and vacuum DE filters. Our systems continue to provide the most efficient and advanced technology using the latest engineering technology. Our team has many years experience managing projects of all sizes and types in the water treatment and aquatics sectors.
01. Filters
FPC has an extensive history of providing design, fabrication and installation of filtration systems for aquatic facilities throughout New Zealand. Over the past 50+ years FPC have installed hundreds of filtration systems of all types throughout public aquatic facilities, schools, hotels, resorts and hope pools.
We can provide expert advice around the pros and cons of different filtration types and help you determine the system that is best suited to your requirements.
Atlas Pressure Regenerative Media Filters
Atlas PCT Regenerative Media Filters are one of the most used filtration systems in use throughout the New Zealand and Australian aquatic industry with over 20+ years of proven service in major aquatic facilities.
Atlas Filters have been manufactured and installed by FPC in New Zealand since 1998 and with more than 100 filter installations completed, these filters are used in many of the country’s largest aquatic facilities. The Atlas PCT system provides a very compact filtration solution relative to other systems, requiring a footprint significantly less than pressure sand systems.
The recent addition of a vacuum transfer system along with using Perlite filter media has resulted in a resurgence of interest in the Atlas filtration system as a compact and effective method of filtration.
With regular preventative maintenance and correct operation the Atlas Filter system has a design life of 40+ years. There are multiple examples of existing installations throughout New Zealand where Atlas Filter systems have been in use for more than 20 years with the recommended annual maintenance being the only maintenance required on many of these filters.
Pressure Sand Filters
Simple to operate and relatively low maintenance, pressure sand filters are commonly used on pools of all sizes from backyard residential pools right up to large public aquatic facilities. Most of these filters are now manufactured from bobbin wound fiberglass and imported into New Zealand through a number of different suppliers that we are able to source filter through.
A pressure sand filter operates by pumping water into the top of the filter and down through the filter media (usually made up of silica sand or crushed glass) that removes any organic matter from the pools water before returning to the pool.
Sand filters are a very simple and effective way to filter pool water and with the addition of flocculants and other disinfection systems such as chlorination or UV disinfection a sand filter system can provide clean and clear water for pools of all sizes.
Vacuum Media Filters
Vacuum Media Filters are a very compact and effective method of filtration commonly used in larger aquatic facilities. The filter is made up of an open filter tank fitted with a series of rectangular filter elements. These elements are fitted with a filter cover which is then coated with a precoat media (usually diatomaceous earth). Pumps are then used to lift water from the pool balance tank into the filter and a second pump is connected to a pipe in the underside of the filters to create a vacuum on the filter elements an suck the water through these elements and back to the pool.
Ceramic Membrane Filtration
Microfiltration is a relatively new concept for pool filtration in New Zealand but it has been growing in popularity in the UK and Europe and had been used in New Zealand extensively in other industries.
Microfiltration is a filtration process where water passes through membranes to separate out microorganisms and suspended particles within the water.
Due to the compact design of these systems (up to 40% less footprint than traditional sand filters) they can often be installed in spaces with limited footprint and provide an option to significantly improve the filtration quality of a facility without the need for costly extensions to the plant space.
Microfiltration is also proven to be highly effective in the removal of Cryptosporidium, giardia, Legionella and Pseudomonas.
02. Pumps
FPC supply pumps of all sizes and types ranging from centrifugal pumps to submersible pumps with flow rates ranging from 1.5 l/s to 150 l/s ensuring we are able to find a pump for all applications.
Pumps can be supplied with or without variable speed drives and can also come supplied with on of our FPC Stainless Steel hair & lint strainers designed to comply with the NZS 4441:2008 swimming pool design standard.
03. Accessories
As a complete solution provider to the aquatic industry, FPC are able to source and supply a comprehensive range of specialist accessories to pool operators:
- Overflow channel grating
- Lane ropes, anchors and storage systems
- Water polo equipment
- Lifeguarding equipment
- Pool Skimmers, drains and recirculation accessories
- Specialist balance tank equipment
- Robotic pool cleaners and vacuuming systems
- Pool test kits
- Thermal pool blankets and storage systems
- Flow meters, pressure gauges and flow switches
04. Disinfection & water treatment equipment
Advances in technology mean there is now a wide range of solutions available in the market for the monitoring and control of disinfection in swimming pools and managing water balance. We are able to offer guidance and advice on the different systems that are available from low-cost systems for smaller pools right up to comprehensive systems commonly used in commercial pools.
We can advise, supply and install a system that will best suit the needs of your pool based on the budget you have available and the bather loading requirements of your pool.
05. pH Control
Due to the high pH of most sodium hypochlorite products, pH control is a constant process for most pool operators. FPC have manufactured and supplied systems for the control of pH in pools and other applications such as food & beverage or process water treatment for decades.
Traditionally co2 has been a popular method of controlling pH however recently we have seen an increase in the number of facilities switching to the use of sodium bisulphate for correction of pH. FPC have developed custom fabricated mixing tanks to make the process of mixing and dosing sodium bisulphate less messy and labour intensive through the use of a vacuum loading system connected to the mixing tank.
07. Granudos
This German design and built Granudos calcium hypochlorite dosing stations have revolutionised the public pool chemistry business.
Gone are all the storage, handling and delivery problems associated with sodium hypochlorite. Gone are all the chronic pH changes associated with other chlorine forms. Gone are the increasing TDS issues.
We have it on good authority from swim coaches that the water has a much better ‘feel’ and is definitely softer on the skin. The unit pictured is the ‘touch’ version which carries a 7″ graphic touch display panel which automatically monitors and controls FAC and pH (not ORP). The display also shows pool water temperature.
08. ProMinent, Aqua Interma, ATG UV
We specialise in full PID Control of FAC and pH and supply and install the medium pressure ultraviolet sterilisers for use in swimming pools. Most recent installations have included ProMinent, Aqua Interma Controllers and ATG UV Sterilisers.
FPC can also manufacture and supply all types of chemical treatment equipment for public swimming pools and water treatment plants for those requiring a bespoke solution.
